Dr. Rahul Banerjee
Dr. Rahul Banerjee brings a rare combination of elite academic training, military service, and two decades of complex surgical experience to every patient he treats.
Dr. Banerjee graduated with honors from Brown University and completed medical school at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honors society — medicine's highest academic honor. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Brown University and an additional year of orthopedic trauma fellowship training.
After completing his training, Dr. Banerjee served in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Major. He was assigned to work with the United States Army, treating injured patients and training orthopedic residents at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas, and was deployed to the War in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Following his military service, Dr. Banerjee joined the faculty at the University of Texas Southwestern as Assistant Clinical Professor, training residents and fellows and caring for patients with complex fractures and injuries at Parkland Memorial Hospital.
His clinical focus includes hip and knee replacement — including the minimally invasive direct anterior approach — comprehensive fracture management, and the treatment of complex orthopedic problems including malunions, nonunions, infections, leg length discrepancies, and bone loss.
Dr. Banerjee has authored over 25 peer-reviewed publications and numerous textbook chapters and is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Orthopaedic Trauma Association, and the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society.

Dr. Rahul Banerjee is a talented surgeon with a superb bedside manner. He was recommended to me by another orthopedic service that could not make needed repairs to my leg. A motorcycle wreck left me with comminuted fractures of my femur, tibia, and fibula. Two delicate surgeries later, and I'm nearing the point where I can walk again. I would not be here without the excellent skill set and quick action by Dr. Banerjee's practice. Now in my seventies, I know when I restart my 50-mile bicycle rides and weekly golf matches, I'll have Dr. Banerjee to thank for outstanding work putting this humpty dumpty back together.
